Pastor's Perspective

Pastor's Perspective March 2019

Posted by Ricky Sanderford on

Easter is late in this calendar year – April 21. Here in the RGV we’ll be knocking on the door of summer! This also means that the season of Lent does not begin until almost a full week into March. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent and it falls on March 6.

An Ash Wednesday service with the imposition of ashes serves as a reminder of our need for God. We are dust and to dust we shall return, but God has provided a way through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus so that dust doesn’t have the last word. Through the love and power, grace and forgiveness of God life forever is our final destination not dust.

Ash Wednesday jump starts our Lenten journey which is a time to prepare spiritually to receive all God has desired for us in Christ Jesus. I say if you want to give something up for Lent, give up part of yourself so you can take on more of God. Take on more time in prayer. Take on more time in scripture. Take on more servant hood. I look forward to worshiping with you on Ash Wednesday at 6 pm.

Just a reminder that our Rejoicing in the Harvest “First Fruit Offering” will be received on March 10. This marks the initial offering toward this campaign. Everyone will receive a letter and a special envelope the week before March 10. Please bring your First Fruit offering to church with you that Sunday. If you will not be here, please return it to the office before March 10 to be included in the total.

Thank you for your love, support and commitment to Christ and His church.

With a Grateful Heart,

Pastor Ricky
