This year Cornerstone was scheduled for Friday & Saturday, March 3 & 4, however Saturday was rained out. We gathered the following Saturday to complete all but one ramp. We will complete this one at a later date. Check out the pictures of what we did by clicking on the "button" below.
If you are interested in helping with that one, please call Susan Hellums at the church or e-mail
Daria Vera was active in the La Marcha in 1966 and has continued to be an advocate for workers rights. Bishop Joel Martinez became aware of the dilapidated condition of Senora Vera’s home and initiated an effort to help her. The plan is to tear down the dilapidated part of her home and build a 24’x24’ one bedroom home that will last her for years to come.
If you would like to be part of the United Methodist Team to build this home near Rio Grande City, one or more days. For more information from Rev. Mark Porterfield, Canyon Lake First UMC, who is coordinating this home build.and to sign up please:

This school year our church family was blessed to prepare 14 Teacher Supply boxes for the teachers at Escandon and Jackson Elementary Schools of the MISD. These went to each of the 7 grade levels at each school. Also, because of a grant from the El Valle District of the UMC, our YOUTH were able to assemble 72 backpacks filled with school supplies to share with children in need in surrounding areas. We partnered with ARISE, Inc. to get these backpacks to children who needed them to start this school year. PRAISE GOD for this opportunity to serve!!!
