As United Methodists, we believe that giving is an act of thanksgiving and worship, and an active expression of our faith. As we consider . In our membership vows, we highlight five specific ways Christians are called to support their church.
In the Christian tradition, there is no more powerful tool than prayer. It is the primary way we communicate with God, and without it, we would just be people singing songs and reading words. Through your prayers, the Church is able to be an active force of God in the world.
There is perhaps no more valuable commodity than our time, and that is at the core of our gift of presence. The gift of presence can also be a powerful tool as we strive to care for our fellow human beings, and we demonstrate what is truly important to us.
Our gifts, our monetary donations to the church, make up the understanding of our gift of gifts. A critical understanding of this piece of our gifts to God and the Church is that it is not the amount or the worth of the gifts we give, but the amount and the worth of the gifts we give in light of what we have been given.
The United Methodist Church, standing in line with centuries of Christian tradition, believes in a Gospel that is meant to be shared. Our gift of witness focuses on this critically important part of the lives we dedicate to our God.
As United Methodists, we strongly believe in our call to serve the "least of these" in our communities. Our gift of service symbolizes that desire as we unite together as God's people to be in service to those who struggle in our world.
